His approach to healing is by means of focusing on
the patient rather than disease-this is holistic, patient-centered (and
preventative) medicine. Oscar examines an individual's condition,
constitution, outlook, and environment before determining a diagnosis
or pattern. This is a uniquely individual experience where treatment
strategies are tailored around a patient and usually involve both
ancient Evidence-Based Eastern approaches as well as aspects of
progressive Functional Western Medicine. These strategies typically
include diet, lifestyle, and herbs as the main treatment modalities as
well as acupuncture, supplements, and an occasional healthy dose of
laughter- a personal favorite healing modality for Oscar.

I believe that there is a subtle magnetism in Nature, which, if we unconsciously yield to it, will direct us aright. ~Henry David Thoreau
Growing up with both parents in the medical field, health has always been an integral part of who I am. I always knew that I wanted to work in the field, but had always been drawn to a more holistic, individual healing approach. Through education, experience, and a bit of luck, I eventually discovered Five Element Acupuncture and Qi Gong. As I've grown personally, I've developed several guiding principles of health, happiness, and healing. I apply them in my own life, and they also provide the foundation of my acupuncture practice. Those principles are based on intuition, integrity, compassion, and personal responsibility.
Five Element acupuncture sees a person in health and balance, rather than in illness. This style of acupuncture guides you in listening to your own body's intuitive messages. Once you've begun to listen to your body, you develop a greater self-awareness. It is then you take responsibility by realizing you hold the key to your own health. This often means letting go of negative tendencies, habits, emotions, or interactions. By living from a place of integrity and compassion, your actions reflect your values and expectations; you will feel balance mentally, physically, and emotionally. I believe that by living from these principles, we are able to transform internal and external conflict and realize the full potential for a healthy, happy, and purposeful life.

Chinese Medicine is a passion for me. Because of my Asian background, I could grasp the concept of Chinese medicine quickly and precisely. Based on that knowledge, I have seen numerous patients and helped them in clinic. People who didn't believe in acupuncture or were afraid of needles came to me and got good results and appreciated my gentle needling technique. Because of the results they believed in acupuncture and referred their friends and family to me.
In my culture, if we become sick, we seek oriental medicine because it is such a positive way of dealing with health issues compared to the drugs and surgeries of western medicine.
I have been trained in the Dr. Shen/Hammer Pulse systems and contemporary diagnosis. In this training I can make a more precise diagnosis and approach to a better treatment for my patients. Also my other specialty is ear (auricular) diagnosis. Auricular medicine can examine the physical conditions of a person in a very simple, cheap, but precise way. By checking different auricular points, one can get information about the health condition of a person. Moreover, it can also give the disease history and potential diseases of the future, such as diabetes. I use many different treatment techniques in addition to acupuncture, such as cupping, moxa, guasha, tuina, and others. Medicinal Chinese herbs are prescribed as part of the treatment for most ailments.
